Change policy to end alcohol harm.

  • Director of Research and Policy
  • Central London
  • Around £55,000 + Benefits

Alcohol misuse harms everyone – not just those who drink, but those around them. It’s also completely avoidable. More than 10 million people in the UK are drinking to excess, costing the NHS £3.5 billion a year and our police, courts and prisons another £4 billion. We’re here to help people develop a better relationship with alcohol through campaigning for improved policies and regulation, creating a healthier drinking culture, delivering behaviour change programmes and championing cutting-edge research into alcohol and its effects. You can join us in transforming countless lives.

This is an extremely exciting time to join us, as we have just agreed an ambitious new strategy and five-year financial plan. Knowledge is at the heart of everything we do, and we are truly an evidence-based organisation, so the research function that you will lead will support all our work. But knowledge must be turned into action, and that’s where your leadership of our policy function comes into its own.

Naturally, you will require a relevant postgraduate degree and expert knowledge of health policymaking, backed by a proven record of leading a policy team within a high-profile charity. In particular, you should know your way round town halls, Whitehall, and Westminster. You will be a sophisticated team-player, a great manager, and a thinker and a doer..

In return, we offer a 6% employer contribution towards your pension, a salary sacrifice scheme, flexible hours and healthy investment in your training and development, among other benefits.

Closing date: 9am on Friday 10 May 2019.
