We’re here to help people develop a better relationship with alcohol through campaigning for improved policies and regulation, creating a healthier drinking culture, delivering behaviour change programmes and championing cutting-edge research into alcohol and its effects. We have just agreed an ambitious new strategy, a new fundraising approach and a five-year financial plan, so this is an extremely exciting time to join us. Our financial plan will put us on the path to long-term sustainability, as we grow our income and maintain our expenditure at stable and realistic levels. As part of this transformation, we are gradually developing a new finance team with more agile systems and processes, and you will be central to delivering this. Notably, you will review our practices and procedures, develop reporting and monitoring activity at all levels, provide guidance to budget holders as a business partner, and integrate financial information with our new CRM database.

This is a unique opportunity to innovate and define new approaches to age-old problems, so we’re looking for a highly organised professional with plenty of enthusiasm and a broad mix of skills. A qualified or part-qualified accountant, you will be experienced in charity finances, VAT regulations (including partial recovery), annual reports and accounts, forecasting, payroll and annual planning and budgeting. Knowledge of the VAT Capital Goods Scheme, Making Tax Digital requirements, accounting for investments and Payroll Manager software would naturally be advantageous, but we are happy to provide comprehensive induction and ongoing support where necessary.
