If we were giving a prize for the best can, this one – with its swirling sea of pink and yellow – would win it. The beer inside's not bad either!

To people of a certain age, “rhubarb and custard” will bring to mind a 1970s cartoon about hapless yellow dog and a mean-spirited pink cat. Indeed, this whole beer seems to have been made with nostalgia in mind. Alongside the usually beery flavours, the most obvious taste is of old-fashioned rhubarb and custard sweets. You might think this would be a recipe for disaster. It’s actually strangely delicious. Fans of traditional ales probably won’t like it very much. More adventurous taste explorers may just love it! Alongside Drop Bear in Swansea, Newport-based Tiny Rebel are certainly making Welsh alcohol-free beers one to watch.

We bought Rhubarb and Custard Sour Non Alc as a part of a four-pack of 0.5% beers direct from the brewery.
