When Americans John Walker and Bill Shufelt set up the Athletic Brewing Company in 2017, they had the admirable aim of “including a large portion of the adult population in the craft beer community”, specifically people who don’t drink alcohol. To that end, they’ve created a bunch of beers at less than 0.5% ABV, two of which are now available on this side of the pond, including this Run Wild IPA. (Running and fitness are a bit of a theme for these healthy and energetic brewers!)

Like all their beers, the presentation is great: Run Wild is sold in six-packs with muted colours and graphics of big American landscapes. The drink itself has a lovely caramel colour and is just a little bit cloudy. It’s got a nice mix of sweetness and bitterness and is tremendously refreshing when chilled.

It’s also very clearly labelled with everything that’s in it – a lesson that many other brewers would do well to learn!
