Thornbridge Brewery are relative newcomers, but they’ve got a presence many older breweries would envy. They were established in 2005 in a shed in the grounds of one of Derbyshire’s finest houses, and it was a slightly saucy statue in front of Thornbridge Hall that gave brewery its distinctive label imagery.

They’ve picked up more awards than most of us have had hot dinners, and become famous for beers with wacky flavours and off-beat names. So, we had big hopes for Big Easy. That’s probably not fair. This is a perfectly drinkable IPA, with a good hoppy taste and smell, and a nice sharp aftertaste. If this had come from of any of the big brewers, we’d be jumping for joy. But we’ve come to expect a bit more from Thornbridge. Maybe they’ll get making some more low-ABV beers, with some of their excellent crazy flavours. Here’s hoping!
