Founded in 2006 by Petra Wetzel from Bavaria, WEST brewery boasts that it has a Glaswegian heart and a German head. We’re guessing that means a combination of passion and precision!

On the precision side, they brew all their beers according to the famous German Reinheitsgebot – the 1516 purity law that says that beer must only be made from water, barley and hops. As for passion, this new low-ABV pale ale really is a beer to get excited about. We’ve reviewed more than 150 drinks on this site, and this is one of the best.

It’s a cloudy beer with a lovely amber colour. It’s hoppy without being over-the-top bitter. It’s well-presented in a beautiful bottle. In short, it’s excellent.
You can buy it directly from the brewery, with more outlets in the pipeline.
