This new juice drink has been produced by AG Barr, who’ve been making soft drinks since 1875 and are probably best known for that strangely orange Scottish icon Irn Bru. They make a lot more than colourful pop these days, and St Clement’s is part of a growing portfolio of drinks aimed very much at grown-ups.

Although St Clement’s is not a cider, we’re reviewing it here with the ciders, since it’s packaged like a cider in a traditional brown bottle and sold by Sainsbury’s alongside their other alcohol-free ciders. That said, it’s quite a sweet drink and is likely to please fans of sweet Swedish ciders, like Kopparberg, more than traditional cider drinkers. The pear flavour really comes through too, and so there may also be a niche in the market amongst drinkers of old-fashioned perry who are looking for something alcohol-free from time to time.

All credit to Barr too for some very clear nutritional labelling – as far as we know, this is the only drink we’ve reviewed on this site with a nice easy-to-read traffic light graphic on the front of the bottle.
