Advisory panel

Our grants programme is overseen by an independent Expert Advisory Panel consisting of experts from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds.

Expert Advisory Panel

Our Expert Advisory Panel (EAP) provides us with a pool of people with a range of skills, knowledge and experience who can contribute to the organisation’s activity on research, policy, information and advice, behaviour change challenges, alcohol treatment and our broader strategy.

The EAP is designed to ensure that Alcohol Change UK stays at the cutting edge of its field, keeping its knowledge levels high despite a small staff team.

The EAP also enables the charity to retain its high standards of grant-making and its commitment to public involvement.

Members of the EAP:

  • Peer review grant applications and make recommendations as to whether they should be shortlisted by checking the relevance of the proposed topic, ensuring there is adequate public involvement in projects, and assessing the potential impact of the research
  • Contribute to setting research and policy priorities
  • Contribute to the communication of the charity’s research activity and findings
  • Advise us on our policy positions
  • Advise on the advice and information about alcohol that the charity publishes for the public
  • Advise us on our other work areas as needed, such as our behaviour change challenges, workplaces consultancy, work in the treatment field, and our events
