Power through your mid-week slump and start exploring the sober lifestyle to the max with Millie's weekly selection of sage words, canny suggestions, and handy resources all hand-picked for you. This week, Millie focuses on how to start getting curious!

Whilst some people believe that curiosity killed the cat, I personally think that curiosity would have allowed the cat to explore its relationship with alcohol – potentially leading to nine much happier and healthier lives. So, as it’s literally day one of Sober Spring, all I’m asking from you is to get curious about not drinking! How?

1. Keep an open mind

You might already have some ideas about how the next three months are going to go. You might have already decided that you’re going to loathe every minute of it, or that it’s going to be mega boring or that you’ll probably have given up by Friday. But screw up those beliefs and throw them in the bin. While the next three months might turn out to be all of those things, they also might not. Drop the expectations and cultivate some intrigue around what might happen if you were to fully embrace Sober Spring.

2. Get googling

Google is really a sober curious folk’s best friend. The internet is awash with everything from fun non-alcoholic recipes to sober events and podcasts. We’ll deep-dive into some of my favourites over the next few weeks but for now, why not do a little exploration of your own?

3. Start documenting

Whether it’s a few notes in your phone, a quick journal entry or a video diary, recording this process is a great way to help you make sense of things. Whether you start to see progress physically, mentally, or even spiritually (it happens), taking time to reflect on the changes you’re seeing or challenges your facing will be pretty enlightening as you move through the next few weeks!
