An interview with Jack, Co-Founder of DASH Water, the Official Soft Drink of the Dry January® challenge 2025.

Bruised, crushed or misshapen produce is usually rejected for the way it looks. But Alex Wright and Jack Scott, the co-founders of DASH Water, are fighting food waste by embracing wonky fruit, and redefining how we consume fizzy drinks. We spoke to Jack to find out more…

1. What sparked the idea for DASH Water?

It was a vision to create a sustainable and healthy drink. Alex and I are from farming backgrounds so we were aware of the staggering amount of fruit that was going to waste at farm level, and we wanted to shine a light on this. We both were working in the sales division of a large soft drinks company, and saw an opportunity to create a great-tasting drink that didn’t have any sugar or sweetener like traditional soft drinks. We really think that sweetener is the devil because of the health risks associated with it. So we jumped to action and created DASH. We expanded globally, and are now stocked in 16,000 stores worldwide, as well as online at dash-water.com.

2. Tell us about your product.

What we think is really special about DASH is the simplicity of it. It is freshly sprung spring water infused with real wonky fruit. We also add bubbles to the water. It doesn’t contain any sugar or sweetener and is also calorie-free.

3. Why have you partnered with the Dry January® challenge?

The Dry January® challenge isn’t about giving something up but realising the benefits that a month off alcohol brings to our health.
