A review of Nirvana Sutra IPA

ABV: 0.5%
Calories per bottle: TBC
Score: 4 out of 5

Situated on the banks of the River Lee, in the heart of London’s old East End, Nirvana is one the most interesting and innovative low-alcohol breweries about. Founded in 2017, they’re brought four beers to market so far: Kosmic stout, Tranta and Karma pale ales, and this Sutra IPA (or India Pale Ale).

What’s the difference between an IPA and any other pale ale? Well you may ask. As far as we can tell, IPA is hoppier – and this one certainly is hoppy as hell. In that respect, it’s a Marmite beer. If you like hops, you’ll love it. If you don’t, maybe you should try some of the other beers on this page.

Traditionally, IPAs were packed with hops to keep them fresh during their long journey from England to slake the thirst of British colonial officials in India, hence the name. Fortunately, you won’t have to go that far to get some these days.
