This stout from Big Drop is very reminiscent of the 1970s favourite Black Forest Gateau. It’s claimed that that famous cake was invented by Josef Keller, a pastry chef in a café on the outskirts of Bonn. We suspect Josef would have been quite a fan of this beer too.

If you like a stout with a bit of a twist, look no further. As you might expect, the combination of dark cherries, cream and chocolate works really well, meaning this tastes like a dessert in a glass. And you won’t miss the alcohol at all!

Stouts are not everyone’s favourite tipple of course, but they really are due a bit of a comeback. And if you want to continue the 1970s theme, enjoy this Gateau Stout with a prawn cocktail and a Berni Inn-style steak. Delicious!
