Founded in 2009, the Bloom distillery has been one of the big success stories of the gin boom that began in the UK around 2009. Founder Joanne Moore wanted to make a gin that “even the most ardent juniper-hater would like”. And as you’d expect with start like that, Bloom has become well-known for less traditional flavours – such as vanilla, rose, and jasmine.

This sparkling raspberry drink certainly reflects that unorthodox approach. It’s got a lovely flavour of fresh raspberries, and the flavour of the fruit is not smothered with sugar as it is in so many alcohol-free drinks. There’s a nice bitter aftertaste, a little like an aperitivo. It’s a nicely packaged ready-to-drink offering, with Bloom’s Victorian-style graphics. Overall, it’s very refreshing and may be just what fans of new-style gins are looking for.
