This new alcohol-free drink is marketed as ‘un aperitivo elegante’, with bucketloads of Italian style and sophistication. It’s made with cranberries, rowanberries and a host of flavoursome botanicals. It has smart red and gold packaging and looks like ‘la dolce vita’ in a bottle.
Given all that, we really wanted to like this drink. But we didn’t – at least not very much. It smells a bit like sherbet, and it has an incredibly bitter aftertaste that lingers a bit too long. We’re sorry to say that most of our taste testers didn’t want to finish it.
If you’re an ‘aperitivo’ fan, give it a go. You may well prove us wrong! Monte Rosso is available in Waitrose and through Ocado, where you can also read what other people think about it.
