Woodforde’s Brewery have been making beer in Norfolk since 1981. They named themselves after the Reverend James Woodforde, a rural priest who became famous for chronicling eighteenth century life in the county. Their logo references another famous son of Norfolk from around the same time: Admiral Horatio Nelson.

Appropriately, given its name, the Volt branding is a pattern of lightning bolts. The beer itself has a nice amber colour, and its flavour is a good balance of hops and malt. It has a little of the sourness that plagues some alcohol-free beers, but it’s certainly worth a try.

It’s gluten-free and suitable for vegans.
