City guide: London

Dry January doesn't mean a boring month of sitting home, staring at the wall and feeling sorry for yourself! There are tonnes of alcohol-free activities (for adults!) right outside your door. Here are just a few of the amazing things you can get up to in London that might just make this your best January ever.

1. Board game café

Whether you’re obsessed with Cluedo or you’re more of a Kerplunk! fan, board game cafes have it all. Warm up with a cuppa and a biscuit or a slice of cake and indulge your competitive streak.

Check out Draughts, Scootercaffé and more!

2. Sober raves

Morning Gloryville organises early-morning sober raves. Dancing while not under the influence might feel odd to start with – then it will feel amazing. Check out their website to see what’s coming up.

3. Mindful drinking festival

On 12 and 13 January you can go to a FREE mindful drinking festival,
organised by Club Soda. Expect talks, taster sessions and live music –
and of course a lot of fun! Find out more.

4. Canary Wharf winter lights

Missing London Lumiere this January? Don’t worry, you can still get your luminous fix if you go down to Canary Wharf. From 15 to 26 January you can explore all the light exhibitions around Canary Wharf, and the best part: it’s absolutely free!

5. Singalong movie night

Love films? Love singing? Why not try a singalong movie night? There’s always loads on around London, all you have to do is look. The Prince Charles Cinema in central London and The Grand in Clapham are great places to start.

Whatever you decide to do this Dry January, make sure you have a great time doing it! Sobriety does not equal boring and you can be the living proof. What will you be up to this month? Let us know in the comments or @dryjanuary on Twitter – we’d love to know!
