What do you get when you mix four epic comedians, a pub full of punters and some amazing alcohol-free drinks? Funny AF!
Held on Tuesday 20 January at the Lucky Saint pub (our longstanding Official Beer of the Dry January® challenge) Funny AF was hosted by award-winning comedian and actor Tom Rosenthal, alongside Rory O’Hanlon, Michael Akadiri and Liam Withnail. A line-up spanning sober, sober-curious and proudly supportive comics.
The night delivered all the hilarity with none of the hangovers, featuring cracking material from all four comedians.
From Rosenthal diving into the data on the nation’s relationship with alcohol, to O’Hanlon and Withnail reflecting on sobriety and drinking cultures across Scotland and Ireland, and some brilliantly frank funnies from NHS doctor-and-comedian Michael Akadiri, the laughs kept coming - no booze required.
And while our research shows that 45% of UK drinkers believe they’re funnier when drinking alcohol (48% among men vs 42% of women), Funny AF proved you can get well and truly tickled without getting pickled. It's what the Dry January® challenge is all about – experimenting and doing all the things we’d usually do - just without the alcohol. And, as so many of us realise in the process, we can have just as much (if not more) fun when booze takes a back seat.
As our wonderful host Tom put it, it was a night full of “100% proof jokes and 0% proof drinks.”
