Try Dry® 2023 Round-up: What’s new with the app?

Angela Calcan | December 2023 | 7 minutes

Over the past twelve months, Try Dry® has undergone lots of changes, bringing improvements requested by the Try Dry® community which build on last year’s feature adds including units calendar display, wellbeing features and a notes/journalling section.

Update Try Dry® now to make use of all the new features listed below.

Make sure you update your app, so you don't miss out. If you haven't got automatic updates enabled in your device's settings and you're not sure how to update the app, check out the help pages from Apple and Google Play.

From sharing innovative ideas to improve the app, to testing out the prototype features themselves, we are so grateful for the active collaboration of our app users in our latest developments. So, whether you’re a brand-new user or you’ve been with us for a while, it’s worth taking a look through the list below to see if there are any new features you could try out that might improve your Try Dry® experience.

So, what's new?

Making goals work better for you

If there’s one thing our Try Dry® users tell us time and time again, it’s that setting the right goals is important for staying on track. So, we researched, we tested, and we made changes to bring you a powerful new range of goals and timeframes through a simplified and intuitive custom goal builder section. As a result, you can now backdate your goals, meaning you can bring existing goals you're working towards over to Try Dry®, as well as achieve a goal more than once. We’ve also tweaked the goals and badges mechanism to allow you to set equivalent goals to badges you may have already achieved, opening up a whole host of potential new goal options to choose from!

Clearer units display

After listening to your views on what’s important to you when it comes to knowing your units, we’ve incorporated units totals with up to one decimal place in both the units calendar and the daily summary screen so you can see an exact picture of your consumed units at a glance.

Password reset improvements

We’ve taken on board your feedback and simplified the password reset process, making it easier to change your credentials should you need to.

International moderator badges for overseas users

Our partners in France, Switzerland and Germany have worked with us to introduce moderator goals that reflect each of their country-specific low risk guidelines. Meaning that app users can now be rewarded for achieving those low-risk weeks in the app as part of their default country setting.

More flexibility in drinks types

This year we also looked into making it easier for you to add more exact drinking data, including increasing the Alcohol By Volume (ABV) range you can select across all drink types, adding:

  • low-alcohol beer and cider (from 1.2% ABV),
  • higher ABV beers and ciders (up to 15% ABV),
  • low-alcohol wine (from 5.5% ABV),
  • low-alcohol champagne (from 4% ABV),
  • fortified wine (from 15% ABV),
  • higher ABV alcopops (up to 14% ABV),
  • spirits (from 20% ABV), and
  • new 250ml alcopop/pre-mixed can option.

So, whatever your tipple of choice is, there’s a good chance you can find it’s equivalent in Try Dry®!

We hope you love the improvements as much as we do, but if you have any questions, queries or feedback you can always visit our Help Centre or reach out to our friendly team at [email protected].
