This alcohol-free Chardonnay from Aldi really goes to show how the discount stores are taking on more high-end shops at their own game, by offering quality at low prices. At just under £3 a bottle, it’s a bargain, but the flavour is up there with drinks you’d pay a bit more for in other shops.

It’s light and fruity with a nice sharp aftertaste. The only thing it lacks is that oaky taste that sometimes characterises Chardonnay – but that might not be your thing anyway.
