A review of Classic Bruce, an alcohol-free stout from Northern Monk.

Prepare yourself for a chocolate explosion! Northern Monk’s Classic Bruce Alcohol Free Stout promises on its packaging a “decadent and gooey, chocolatey, rich stout” that’s inspired by the famous Bruce chocolate cake from the Get Baked bakery in Leeds.
So, can you have your cake and eat it? Is this the alcohol-free stout that raises the bar, with all the flavour and none of the alcohol? Possibly.
Our reviewers were left slightly underwhelmed, if we’re honest. Yes, there are hints of chocolate dessert mixed with some bitterness that were very welcome, but the mouthfeel is disappointingly thin and, dare we say it, a little on the bland side.
Certainly worth a try, but we’re of the view there are better alcohol-free stouts around.
