Tantra is definitely a tropical beer – tropical to the point of sour. The first thing you get in the mouth is a punch of grapefruit tang, which then bursts into a full fruit salad, before dying back down into the dryness of grapefruit again, leaving a complicated mouthfeel.
Normally, these kinds of beers are not my tipple. However, one of the things that annoys me about alcohol-free beers is their blandness – the empty facsimile of a beer that is itself a facsimile of another, better beer. I don’t think you could aim any such insult at this beer. It’s not holding back, it’s not pulling its punches. It’s doing exactly what it wants to do, and it’s doing it well.
This kind of beer might not be for me normally, but I definitely enjoyed it. If you like rambunctious tangy beers, you probably will too.
