Northern Monk is a relatively new brewery, founded in 2014 and drawing inspiration for their brand from the great historic monasteries of Yorkshire. Their beers go up to 12% in strength, but they also produce quite a few at 0.5%, including this one.

Like all Northern Monk beers, Holy Faith comes in a well-designed can, with the brewery’s memorable (and slightly spooky) hooded monk logo; in this case, against a background of the northern hills and landmarks. The beer itself is cloudy, almost like old-fashioned ginger beer in appearance. It’s got plenty of life in it and a head that hangs around. It has a pleasant aroma and a bitter taste that really lasts but doesn’t overwhelm the palate. Altogether, it’s really nice pale ale.
