Alcohol Change UK community policy

This policy describes how Alcohol Change UK manages and addresses abusive and inappropriate messages received on any of its social media channels.

Alcohol Change UK’s social media channels are open to everyone to discover more about alcohol and alcohol harm. We share research and policy updates, fundraising campaigns, news and information, details on alcohol-related training, and stories about people’s own experiences. It’s also a place for people to engage with us and discover more about alcohol-related harm and how they can change their own relationship with alcohol, or support someone else.

At Alcohol Change UK, we’re committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive online community. This policy outlines our approach to managing and addressing abusive, threatening, or inappropriate messages on our social media platforms.

This policy applies to all users engaging with our social media, including comments, direct messages, mentions, and any other form of interaction across our platforms.

Our approach

We monitor our social media channels Monday - Friday, including comments, messages, wall posts and tweets to ensure a safe environment for all users. Our team will review all interactions, flagging content that is deemed inappropriate.

Warning: If a message is deemed borderline or potentially misunderstood, we may issue a polite warning, reminding the user of our guidelines:

Removal: Any abusive messages that clearly violate our standards will be hidden and/or removed immediately.

Blocking, banning and reporting: In cases of repeated violations, we reserve the right to block the offending user and report the account to the platform.

Our channels are moderated daily year-round. We aim to respond to questions or those that need supporter guidance within 48 hours.
