Hi Sober Springers,
I’m Angela, one of the Alcohol Change UK Team behind Sober Spring. If you are reading this then you’ve reached the final day of Sober Spring 2025. Before we get to your certificate I just want to share a few words with you.
Firstly, you are amazing! You committed to this three month challenge, whether you used the time to take a break or cut down your drinking. No matter how long your dry streak was this Spring or whether you achieved that gold or silver Sober Spring badge in Try Dry®, you stepped up and are taking leaps and bounds towards the type of life you want. That is no small feat, and we hope you’re feeling really proud of your progress.
And you should be particularly proud of your achievement given that we live in a world where we’re surrounded by constant advertising for alcohol, where so often big alcohol brands make it feel like it’s ‘essential’ to our daily lives. Perhaps by taking part in Sober Spring you’ve become even more aware of how alcohol is so often put centre stage, but hopefully your experience shows it doesn’t have to be this way!
Try to take your new-found confidence into Summer whether you have decided to extend your dry streak further, or choosing to drink less going forward. We hope that you continue to utilise the skills and support you have gained during Sober Spring, and keep on trying to master the ones you are still learning.
Remember to keep setting goals to keep you on track and accountable. Whether that’s in the Try Dry® app or in another way that works for you. If you plan to try out moderation or mindful drinking from here, go steady as your tolerance to alcohol has dropped, so even small amounts of alcohol will have a noticeable effect.
The person you are today is different to the one that started this journey. You have learned so much about yourself and your relationship with alcohol, learned strategies and given yourself agency to change. The learning will continue, so embrace all the opportunities to grow and live the life you want.
Maybe we’ll see you next year. Take care and a HUGE congratulations again.
Best wishes,
Angela
