We were thrilled to be nominated as the chosen charity for Cranleigh School - North House’s Annual Charity Day. Alcohol Change UK was chosen by the house council (which represents all the boys in the house), after a good discussion of a range of possible causes.
Alcohol Change UK were thrilled to be nominated as the chosen charity for Cranleigh School - North House’s Annual Charity Day.
“Mental Health and the role alcohol plays in it have been gaining a lot of traction in recent years and as a boys boarding house; between the ages of 13 and 18 seems like the best time to educate not drinking for the wrong reasons.” Adam Rothwell, Deputy Housemaster - North House
The Charity Day was held on 4 March 2023 and was a huge success with 160 people in attendance and an incredible £7,570.50 was raised through ticket sales, raffle/auction, bar sales (alcohol-free drinks from Big Drop) and sales of a special charity day t-shirt.
After the event Adam said: “I should say that we were also helped along a great deal on the night with a substantial donation from Big Drop Brewery, who gave us 300 bottles of their excellent non-alcoholic lager and IPA. We sold these bottles at our bar and for this portion of our donation, the credit really does need to go to Big Drop (whose IPA I would particularly recommend)!”
“We’re also seeing the Alcohol Change logo quite a bit around school now, on the arm of the charity t-shirt we had made to accompany the evening.”
Thank you to North House staff and students, as well as everyone that attended and donated, for your amazing support of Alcohol Change UK.
