Hoegaarden caused quite a stir when it was introduced to the UK sometime in the 1990s. Most of us had never seen a beer so cloudy, nor one that tasted of orange peel and coriander. It was served in novel hexagonal glasses filled from a huge ceramic pump. British drinkers were a bit unsure how to pronounce its Dutch name. None of this seems to have stopped it becoming a firm favourite – on draft and in bottles.

This Hoegaarden Wit Blanche 0.0 comes in a neat box of four cans from Tesco, with smart white and blue packaging with images of some of the plants that give the beer its distinctive flavour. Not everyone is going to like it, but only because not everyone likes Hoegaarden. If you’re a fan of cloudy Belgian beers but would like a little less alcohol in your life, this may well be the beer for you.
