Adnams are best known as brewers of fine ales, but they also offer a selection of wines under their brand, although they don’t produce them – this Sauvignon Blanc is from Spain rather than Suffolk. It comes in a smart bottle with a label that boldly states the drink’s minimal alcohol content – with a big “0.5”. The wine itself is relatively dark for a white wine, more like a Chardonnay than a Sauvignon Blanc. It’s got a nice wine aroma, with a hint a yeast. The taste is not too sweet, with just a little bit of bitterness. It’s also a bit oaky (again like a Chardonnay). Although it has its flaws, this is a genuinely pleasant and refreshing drink.
