This Fungtn beer was launched during the 2020 lockdown by mindful drinking consultant Zoey Henderson, who discovered some remarkable traditional medicinal mushrooms on a trip to California. “Fair enough, but what are they doing in a lager?” we hear you ask. Well, Fungtn say the starchiness of the mushrooms enhances the depth of body of their beers without the more artificial ingredients that are used in some non-alcoholic beers. They’re also supposed to have various health-enhancing properties.

You’ll be relieved to know that the taste is not reminiscent of a mushroom stroganoff! Instead, it’s surprisingly chocolatey, similar to a dark European style-lager. We’ve no opinion on whether or not this drink is 'good for you' but the absence of alcohol means it’s definitely an option if you’re looking to cut out booze from your diet. It’s also gluten-free and vegan-friendly. Maybe you should give it a try.
