This de-alcoholised South African wine pairs well with food, but struggles to pack a punch on its own

Thomson & Scott had a big hit with their 0.5% sparkling organic white wine. They’ve now launched a low-alcohol red wine, which is one of the hardest drinks to get right.

This de-alcoholised South African wine has a nice blackberry aroma and a good balance of bitterness and sweetness, but it feels a little thin, and it does have a sour aftertaste that lingers a bit. Paired with strongly flavoured food, it works OK; on its own, it struggles a bit.
