Nozeco are known for their alcohol-free sparkling white and rosé wines, so we were intrigued to find this red wine from them on sale in Morrisons in 2025.
It’s got a lovely deep red hue, and, unusually for a red wine, it comes in a clear glass bottle, which really shows off its colour. It looks great when poured and has an intriguing aroma.
But what we have here is an aromatised drink made from de-alcoholised wine, and that, for us, is where it falls down. Aromatising – adding herbs and spices – was widely used in the early days of low-alcohol wines, but it seems to be less common these days. One reason for that is that the added flavours can overshadow the wine, and that’s what we’d say has happened here.
