Peroni has to one of the biggest beer success stories ever. From humble beginnings in small-town Vigevano in 1846, it’s grown to be one of Italy’s most famous and most fashionable exports. It’s on the menu in pizzerias from Sicily to Stockholm, and promoted by an aspirational marketing campaign full of high fashion, beautiful lakes, and glamourous women in sailor hats.

Peroni ventured into the alcohol-free market in 2018 with Peroni Libera. That was an OK beer, but, as we said at the time, it was nothing like Peroni Nastro Azzurro – it was too light and too sweet. Peroni Libera has now been replaced by Peroni Nastro Azzuro 0.0%, which was launched in 2022, and is a much better beer. It’s a refreshing lager, with a dose of hoppy bitterness that you don’t normally get in Peroni beers and which may appeal to craft lager fans.

Appearance-wise, it’s great. Peroni have always done a good serve, and this drink is no exception. It comes in a smart green bottle, labelled largely in Italian, promising “qualitá superiore…senza alcohol”
