This 0% lager is one of a range of five drinks from Cheshire-based Drynks Unlimited. Faced with supermarket shelves full of sweet and fizzy drinks, they asked some expert brewers to “give us a glass of something that feels like, smells like and tastes like the stuff we prefer, but knock the alcohol on the head”.
Their drinks are produced as full-strength alcoholic beverages which then have the alcohol removed by a process known as cool vacuum distillation. So, what’s the result? Well, it’s a nice beer, similar in many ways to Heineken Zero but a bit more bitter. It’s not a complicated beer, there are no unexpected flavours, but it will certainly slake a thirst.
Smashed Lager comes in a neat four-pack, which we found on sale in Sainsbury’s.
