Increasing support for Dry January® - in Bristol and beyond
Every year, support for the Dry January® campaign has been growing. A recent YouGov poll showed that almost five million people across the country took part in Dry January® in 2017. And it's growing in popularity in Bristol too.
We spoke to Bristol Councillor Asher Craig, Deputy Mayor for Neighbourhoods including Public Health. He said, “Traditionally January is seen like quite a tough month emotionally. But we are seeing more and more people choosing to see in the New Year by feeling good. Evidence shows that people who’ve taken part in Dry January® have saved money, had better sleep and more energy and lost weight."
You can still enjoy Bristol’s night life while doing Dry January®!
Councillor Asher Craig added, “We’re hoping to offer businesses a chance to get ahead of the trend this January and get on board with the campaign. We don’t want to stop people from enjoying our great night time economy but encourage people to overcome any dependency they may have on alcohol and feel better as a result."
