Alcohol-free wine is hard to get right, but now and again someone hits the nail on the head.
Thomson and Scott have set out to sell Champagne and Prosecco with less sugar, and make it organic and vegan too. Now they’ve made one with less alcohol – in fact, in practical terms, with no alcohol at all. And this 0.05% Noughty is one of the best alcohol-free wines we’ve tried.
Just like Champagne, it’s made from Chardonnay grapes, and it looks great in a traditional Champagne bottle with an exposed cork. It pours well with tonnes of bubbles. It’s got a little bit of a rosé tinge and a lovely Champagne sharpness. Most of us will have had standard-strength sparkling wine that isn’t half as good as this.
