This has to be one of the best-looking drinks on the market. With its curved lines and art-deco colour-scheme, it’s like the Great Gatsby went out for cocktails with Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

It’s inventor, Chris Wilfred Hughes, was frustrated by the “uninspired, overly sweet and usually unhealthy non-alcoholic options available” and aimed to “capture all the complexity of the greats but without the alcohol”.

After two years of experimentation and more than a hundred recipes, he’s brought us this new take on the classic aperitivo or apéritif (depending on whether you’re Italian or French), made with bittersweet marmalade oranges, rhubarb, and rosemary from the family garden.

The result is a drink with a deep blood-red colour, with a strong spicy aroma – almost Christmassy. It has a strong bitter-sweet flavour and a very dry aftertaste. If bitter aperitivo is your thing, give it a go!
