A review of Great Northern alcohol-free lager from Northern Monk.

Score:

3/5

ABV: 0.5%

Even though Northern Monk have only been around for a decade or so, they’ve quickly established themselves with a wide range of ales and lagers. Pleasingly, this now extends to alcohol-free options, and their Great Northern alcohol-free lager is one such example.

Just like the original alcoholic version, this beer is craft-brewed with Northern pride for a clean crisp flavour. However, whilst it’s stylish packaging and beautiful pale colour on pouring are both very appealing, our reviewers were not bowled over by the taste, unfortunately.

Given the “monk” theme, we wanted our review to offer some timeless and profound statement that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading, like “from a withered tree a flower blooms” or “nothing is forever except change”. But, not being able to think of anything suitable, we’ll just say that this drink is pleasant enough and, if you’re not drinking alcohol for whatever reason, it’s worth giving it a try!
