Established in in 1896, the London Essence Company specialised in distilling fruits and herbs to create essences for perfume, confectionary and drinks. In 2016, the company archives were uncovered, providing the inspiration for a new range of alcohol-free drinks – either for mixing with spirits, or for enjoying on their own.
The revived company has obviously been a big success, with their products on sale in top-end retailers, and in bars from New York to Hong Kong. You don’t have to travel quite that far to try them, since they’re also on sale in Waitrose and Ocado, both of whom stock a range of London Essence drinks.
We found this white peach and jasmine drink to be a pleasant tipple, not to sweet, and with a nice fragrant aroma. It’s also remarkably low in calories, despite avoiding all artificial sweeteners.
