Sound evidence is vital for us to tackle alcohol harm. Our research aims to increase public understanding, influence public policy, shift drinking cultures and behaviours, and support the alcohol treatment system to continually improve. We commission and produce high-quality research to ensure all our programmes, and the policy positions we advocate for, are evidence-based.

Research Partnerships
The Alcohol Change UK 2024-29 strategic framework focuses our research programme on projects that can make a direct impact. By this, we mean that our research will lead to real-world actions, whether for policy-makers, for practitioners, or for our own programme managers. We undertake research in three different ways:
- In-house research
- Commissioned research
- Small grants, totalling £5000 per year
Please note that we do not run open grant funding calls and do not accept unsolicited requests for grant funding.
However, we are always interested in ideas for research gaps. To discuss a research idea, please get in touch with our Policy and Research Manager, [email protected].
