We first reviewed this beer in 2020 when it was launched. Some production issues meant that it was off the shelves for a long time, but it’s now back and so we’re giving it another go.

We can say with confidence that this is still one of the best alcohol-free beers there is. Obviously, if you don’t like Guinness normally you’re not going to like this one. But that’s kind of the point: you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between this 0.0% beer and an ordinary Guinness at 4.2%. As soon as it’s opened, there’s an unmistakable whiff of Guinness. It’s got the characteristic dark, almost opaque black colour, with a thick creamy head. And it tastes like Guinness. There really is nothing to complain about here.

The old adverts drawn by John Gilroy used to promote “Guinness for strength”. Claims about the beer being a good source of iron have long since been disproved. Guinness won’t give you strength. But this 0.0% Guinness won’t give you a hangover either!
