Exeter Brewery is small local brewery who’ve been making a name for themselves since 2003, and are based by the banks of the beautiful River Exe in Devon. They started off as a microbrewery at the Exminster Marshes Nature Reserve, and in a nod to that, each can and bottle carries a cute little avocet – a bird which has become a mascot for nature conservation.
As far we know, this is their first low-alcohol brew, and it’s a good one. They recommend you “hard pour” it straight into the bottom of a glass, and that seems to be the best way to get a creamy head. It’s got a nice chocolatey flavour and it’s smoother and less bitter than some stouts – if you’re not normally a stout drinker, this could be a good beer to start your venture to the dark side!
Darkness is made with organic hops and grains and is suitable for vegans.
