It was way back in 1834 that English doctor Henry Lindeman planted his first vineyard on the New South Wales coast. He started shipping wine back to the UK in 1858, and they’ve been at it ever since. Just over 160 years later this excellent 0.5% sparkling tipple has arrived on our shores.

This wine is well-packaged in a nice blue-green bottle with some cute birds and butterflies on the label. More importantly, the wine inside is outstanding. The low-alcohol sparkling market is crowded with overly sweet fruity drinks. This, by contrast, has that sharp, dry edge that a lot of us look for in a good sparkling wine. It’s almost sour but doesn’t go too far in that direction. If you’re looking for alcohol-free fizz for any celebration (or just for lazing in your garden) we really recommend this one.

Perhaps because it isn’t loaded with sugar, it’s also remarkably low in calories. Along with the rest of the Lindeman’s low-ABV range – a white and a red – you can find it in Asda and Morrisons.
