We’ve reviewed spirits from Scotland, England and Denmark on these pages. As far as we know, this is the first alcohol-free spirit from Wales – from the Old Coach House distillery in Monmouth.

The style is certainly very Celtic – with a white horse on the label, reminiscent of the magical animals of the Medieval tales of the Mabinogi – and the first ingredient is Welsh spring water. The drink itself is quite a florid gin-type drink, with juniper but also a number citrus and a slight hint of rosemary. It’s a more complex drink than a traditional London Gin, and if you’re one of the thousands of people driving the growth in sales of non-traditional gins, this might be just the alcohol-free option for you.

The distillers say that no alcohol is involved at any point during the creation of the drink. It also appears to be wholly calorie-free!

We ordered Celtic Myst, and its companion drink Silk Roots, directly from the distillery.
