CleanCo drinks entered the market in 2019, with the aim of offering “sophisticated non-alcoholic grown-up drinks, with a fraction of the calories”. Their drinks started out at 1.2% ABV but are now no more than 0.5% alcohol. This Clean G Rhubarb was launched in mid-2021 and it may be one of their best drinks so far.
Like all the CleanCo drinks, it comes in a nice hexagonal bottle with a kind of 1920s feel to it. The drink itself has a lovely pink colour and a delightfully sharp bite, like freshly cooked rhubarb, and maybe just a hint of the aroma of an old-fashioned sweet shop. It’s one of the few alcohol-free spirits that tastes good on its own; mixed with tonic it’s delightful!
