Alcohol Awareness Week seminars

This Alcohol Awareness Week (6-12 July 2026), host a 60-minute webinar for your workplace.

Alcohol Awareness Week is fast approaching. This is a perfect time for organisation's to share evidence-based information with their teams on the subject of alcohol harm.

Why host a seminar?

Recent research shows that two-thirds of UK workers drink alcohol for work related reasons with job stress, pressure and security behind increased consumption.1

This can show up in the workplace as sleepless nights, low energy, employees calling in sick or turning up late after a previous night of drinking. The result of this is widespread across all sectors with the total estimated cost to the economy of an estimated £5.06 billion per year.2

But the research shows that alcohol’s impact on workplaces extends beyond productivity losses. We should also be looking at the impact on our workplace cultures, relationships and safety. Exploring how alcohol impacts the world around us in our workplace, can show up no matter the occasion. Be it attending client meetings, social events and celebrations, employees can be excluded, feel stagnant in their role and potentially unsafe around those who we drink with.

Did you know?

  • Almost 30% of people feel that drinking at work events excluded non drinkers or created cliques
  • 43% of people feel that drinking with more senior colleagues decreases their chance of career progression
  • More than 1 in 5 people associate alcohol with a greater risk of sexual harassment, bullying and intimidation

This Alcohol Awareness Week, we’re simply inviting individuals to take 2 minutes to explore the role alcohol is playing in their lives. This could mean understanding more about alcohol risk levels, cutting back, experimenting with an alcohol-free experience or simply learning more.

Seminars by Alcohol Change UK can have a lasting impact on colleagues who may not get this information elsewhere. Hosting an alcohol awareness seminar helps reduce the risk of people becoming dependent on alcohol before it becomes a problem. Our seminars are for everyone’s benefit and not just those we think could use the information.

Many walk away from these sessions with a better understanding of units, how alcohol can show up in their lives, and how to support themselves or others.

Alcohol Change UK delivered a fantastic seminar for our business during Alcohol Awareness Week.  Their expert by lived experience, presented an educational piece that not only informed our team of alcohol harm, but really got them immersed in the conversation. To compliment this Alcohol Change UK provided free resources throughout Alcohol Awareness Week for all businesses to share giving an extra buzz to the session. Some of the stats were enlightening and we will use this information to guide future practices within Southern Water, to keep our employees safe and well.  We highly recommend Alcohol Change UK and urge anyone in the utilities sector to join us in raising awareness for this important and underestimated wellbeing topic.

How to arrange a seminar

We can deliver a typical online seminar to your team for £650 + VAT with the option of delivering in person subject to additional fees and availability. This is the most cost-effective way to deliver evidence-based information to people at scale.

These seminars are delivered at a mutually agreed date and time that work around your schedule. For best attendance (and employee wellbeing) we always suggest avoiding breaktimes and encouraging attendance with no impact on employee work expectations. This provides a relaxed environment where attendees will be able to take more away from the session.

Towards the end of each session there will be a chance for Q&A. The seminar will last a total duration of 1 hour.

The booking process is simple and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes out of your day.

  • Contact our team at [email protected], let us know you would like to book and if you have any preferences or learning needs to be met.
  • Chose a timeslot that fits your employee’s availability.
  • Secure the booking by returning our booking form – We will send confirmation details and make an introduction to the trainer.
  • We recommend promoting the session at least one month in advance to get employees attention.

Whether or not this is your first time hosting an alcohol awareness seminar, speak to one of our team today to discuss the best options for your organisation as there is no one size fits all approach.
