Pale ale is one of those mysteries to me. I can appreciate the skill that goes into making a good one, but it’s never been for me. I’d always preferred the maltier tones of a dark or amber beer over the tangy citrus of a well-hopped brew.

Chakra, though, is masterfully well-balanced. All those fruity sharp tones are there but are not overpowering. Instead of stabbing your tastebuds, it takes them for a leisurely walk through a pine forest on a breezy morning after some rain.

It is refreshing in extremis. An easy session ale. And like other Good Karma beers, that empty end? Not present. The flavour stays in your mouth so readily, with such a perfect mouthfeel, that you wouldn’t notice a lack of alcohol at all.

A great beer to accompany any food you’d normally have a beer with, or even just on its own in an evening.
