Warwickshire might not be on your list of cider-making counties, but it probably should be. The Hogan family have been making cider there since 2005, and they do it very well!
High Sobriety, their first low-alcohol cider was launched in 2019 at 1% ABV. It’s now been relaunched at 0.5%, which is sure to broaden its appeal for anyone looking to cut back.
We’d definitely put this one in the “traditional cider” category. Right from the start, it smells of crisp cider apples, and the taste is sharp and dry. That sharpness is added to with a dash of cider vinegar, giving it an almost sour aftertaste. We found that a little much, but if you like your cider very dry, it may be just your kind of thing. Either way, this is good cider – packed with apples and ideal for hot weather!
You can buy High Sobriety Original online direct from the farm in lovely tradition brown bottles or in handy cans.
