It may not be the most fashionable drink these days, but rum is still a firm favourite for many. So, does it work without the alcohol?
The makers of Stryyk Not Rum promise “sweet sugar cane and raisin notes with vanilla and oakwood”. Do they deliver? Well, it’s got a nice golden colour and a whiff of tropical spice. Taste-wise, it’s not great on its own, but like most alcohol-free spirits, it’s meant for mixing really. We went for the obvious choice and make rum-n-coke. It made a nice warming drink with a little bit of a chilli aftertaste. But, we have to say, it doesn’t capture that warming spicy feeling of a good rum-and-cola in the way that Teetotal Cuba Libre does.
