Wish You Were Beer is the first alcohol-free offering from the Bristol-based Arbor brewery, who’ve been brewing innovative drinks since 2007.
First of all, the hops – apparently, they’re citra and mosaic hops, which roughly translates as blow-your-socks-off hops! Yes, this one’s hoppier than a box of frogs! Because of this, you won’t really notice the missing alcohol, which is great – except if you don’t like hoppy drinks of course, in which case you should stay away.
On pouring, it’s very fizzy with a cloudy amber colour and a head that quickly dissipates. To be frank, it does taste strangely thin and, dare we say it, watery, and with an aftertaste that doesn’t make it particularly morish. All-in-all, it left us a little underwhelmed, and there are better alcohol-free pale ales out there, like Nirvana Hoppy Pale Ale and Good Karma Chakra Pale Ale.
